Teeth are one of the most important and durable body part. If it is kept well it gives joy to our life and others a happy smile. Due to any reason like cavity, infection etc if anyone is undergoing Root canal Therapy for Posterior Tooth a crown is recommended to conclude the root canal therapy, which is efficiently done by Dr. Kezian. Crown provides protection to the tooth to avoid breaking and fracturing of the tooth in future which will arise while eating, chewing, grinding and clenching of food.
Why should I get a crown? Why Root Canal Therapy? To understand the need of crown one needs to learn what is Root Canal Therapy and how is being done.
- Root canal therapy is a type of Endodontic treatment dealing with the disease of tooth pulp. Pulp is at the center of tooth and canal (also known as root canal) inside the root in each tooth.
- It includes nerves, blood vessels and connective tissues. Its function is to nourish the tooth whenever it emerges first.
- Whenever tooth is matured, a Root canal dentist, Dr. Kezian ensures that the pulp is removed without harming the tooth as now tooth is nurtured by blood supply within the tooth.
- This Treatment of removing pulp from the tooth is called endodontic Treatment. This treatment is undergone by millions of people in the world.
- It is required mainly for two reasons. First Reason is cause of Pulp infection caused due to untreated cavity. Enamel and Dentin of tooth is destroyed due to pulp infection. Antibiotics can’t treat infection at this stage and hence blood supply to the tooth is affected severely.
- Second reason for need of Root canal treatment is damage of a pulp due to unknown reason. Sometimes fractured tooth also causes damage and after lots of restoration process also teeth can’t be cured and hence root canal is needed. If root canal treatment is not undergone infected tooth has to be extracted sometimes. Dentist always tries to preserve natural teeth as its absence causes more pressure on neighboring teeth and sometimes it may outline. Major Advantage of root canal treatment is the preservation of tooth for rest of life.
How the Root canal Treatment is done?Root canal Treatment is done by dentist in one or two visit.
- First of all Root canal dentist will inject sedation like nitrous oxide and then numb the area around the affected tooth.
- After that dentist will make a hole at back or top side of the tooth to enter pulp chamber. After that diseased pulp is removed.
- At this time dentist will estimate the length of root canal needs to be cleaned and how much material is required to be filled in the cleaned canals. Sometimes dentist do the X- Ray to measure the length of root canal.
- After the canal is measured it is thoroughly cleaned with antiseptic and at last a temporary filling is then placed in tooth. Here comes the role of porcelain crowns to cover the tooth so as to preserve the tooth as the filling is not going to last long.
Why Porcelain Crown? Its AdvantagesIf tooth is not covered up properly following complications can occur.
- Oxygen in air will help bacteria to grow again in open teeth and hence tooth will start decaying slowly.
- Sometimes Bacteria of infected tooth will enter surrounding tooth and also leads to its decay.
Today Root canal Therapy has become painless with invention of gels and painless injections. But during therapy sometimes teeth have weaken up and hence need protection. At this time covering up the teeth with porcelain crowns helps the teeth to last long. It is just a cap that is put on the top of the tooth and looks natural. Unlike Metal Crowns it does not aggravate gums.
Dr. Kezian and staff are trained to undergo this treatment and hence patient relaxes during and after the treatment.
