In Los Angeles, Lava Crowns are popping up all over the place. So, should you jump in on the trend? Before you have those dental porcelain veneers applied, you need to know how the veneer process actually works. That way, your smile makeover in Los Angeles will last a lifetime!
Dental porcelain veneers are designed to look and feel just like your natural teeth – only better! That’s why, in Los Angeles, porcelain veneers are so popular.
So, how exactly do they work?
Lava crowns are about 0.5 mm thick – about the same thickness as a contact lens. While they may be small, they can have a huge effect on your appearance. Dental porcelain veneers can improve the position, the shape, the size, and the color of your teeth. Once they are applied, you will instantly have a brighter, more beautiful smile.
Once you get the lava crown process rolling, you can have everything finished in about a week or so. Your dentist in Los Angeles will start by shaving about 0.5 mm off the thickness of your teeth. That way, once the veneers are on, they will feel exactly the same as your natural teeth. You will not have to worry about a smile that’s “too thick”.
And, don’t worry, this process may sound severe, but it is not painful. In fact, most people do not even need a local anesthesia to have it done. However, if you have particularly sensitive teeth, you may want to ask your dentist for a local anesthesia.
Once your teeth have been reduced, your dentist will make a wax impression of them. That wax impression will be sent off to a lab, where your crowns will be crafted. This is actually the longest part of the process. It usually takes the lab at least a few days to get everything made. But, as soon as your dentist receives your dental porcelain veneers back from the lab, you can come back in and have them applied!
To physically place the dental veneers in your mouth, your dentist will use lightweight dental cement and a special beam of light to make the cement harden. Once the veneers are in place, they are there to stay. Between the cement and the tooth reduction, the crown process can never be reversed.
And, since that cement is so strong, it can actually keep bacteria at bay. The cement will not allow bacteria to get in between your veneers and your teeth – meaning that you will not have to worry about tooth decay forming underneath.
Aside from avoiding obvious dangers – like chewing on ice, biting your nails, or grinding your teeth – all you need to do to take care of your crowns is to brush and floss them like normal, and see your dentist for regular cleanings and checkups. If you take care of them, your dental porcelain veneers will last forever – and they will never show any wear and tear.
With perks like these, it is easy to see why Los Angeles is crazy about porcelain veneers!
