Cost of Dental Veneers

Whether you have stained teeth, spaces in between your teeth, or crooked teeth, your smile can be completely transformed by a set of dental veneers.

Wondering about the cost of dental veneers?  Look no further than this list.  The price you pay will be determined by:

  1. The expertise of your cosmetic dentist

The cosmetic dentists who have been working in Los Angeles for years and years are going to charge more for their expertise than their less experienced counterparts.  Before you opt for the smaller price tag, remember that the way your smile ultimately looks rests entirely on the shoulders of the cosmetic dentist that you choose.

Not only will a more experienced dentist be more skilled during the application process, he’ll also be better-versed throughout the lifespan of your veneers.  He’ll be able to spot small issues before they have a chance to turn into big problems.

  1. The type of dental veneers that you want

In terms of the cost, there are two things to consider. The average porcelain veneer will cost you $950 to $2,500 per tooth. Composite veneers average anywhere from $250 to $1,500 per tooth.

Yes, porcelain veneers are more expensive, but they also last longer and look more natural.  An average set of porcelain dental veneers will last 10-15 years. Some veneers will last as long as 20 or 25 years.  Porcelain veneers will usually look more natural. Why? Porcelain reflects light the same way that your natural tooth enamel does.

However, it takes longer to create porcelain veneers than the veneers that are made out of composite resin.  Your dentist will have to take impressions of your teeth, send them off to a lab, and then individually cement and cure each one.  The end result is more trips to the dentist’s office.

Composite resin veneers, on the other hand, can be done in a single office visit.  And since your dentist can mold them chair-side, you don’t have to worry about footing the bill for any lab fees or for a second appointment.

  1. The current condition of your teeth

In order for your dental veneers to be a success, they’ve got to have solid teeth to “hold onto”.  If your teeth have a lot of decay, severe alignment issues, or chips and cracks, your cosmetic dentist will have to tackle them before he can even think about applying veneers.  And as you can probably guess, the longer it takes to prepare your teeth for the veneers, the cost of dental veneers will be more.

  1. The type of dental insurance that you have

Since veneers are typically considered to be a cosmetic dental procedure, your insurance company probably won’t help you foot the bill for them.  However, before you take on the entire cost yourself, dig into your specific policy.  You might be pleasantly surprised!

Now that you’re armed with knowledge, find a Los Angeles cosmetic dentist that you trust, and sit down for a consultation.  Your smile will thank you!
